On their southern border with Oregon, the Columbia River has carved a great gorge, thousands of feet deep in spots, through the Cascade Range. These three volcanoes and a gorge are quiet but awe-inspiring neighbors to the region's booming cities. | Like most visitors to the Columbia River Gorge, many of the world's best windsurfers flock here for the scenery. But, they're also passionate about the legendary, temperate Pacific winds that accelerate between the walls of the giant river canyon. Highway 14 offers breathtaking views of the Gorge, as well as access to trails past waterfalls and into the surrounding forests. |
