Okanogan is home to the Okanogan National Forest in the North Cascade Mountains. There visitors can camp, hike, backpack, and ride horseback in the midst of breathtaking scenery. Unlike forests west of the Cascades, the forecast here usually calls for sun. Winters still bring plenty of snow, however. The forest's 1.7 million acres offer scenic drives, wilderness areas, hiking trails, and old mining towns to explore.
Named after a Native American term for "rendezvous," Okanogan is the county seat and hosts the annual Okanogan County Fair the first weekend after Labor Day. The Fair Grounds is open for year-round use, with 2 RV parks available from April-October. A 7,500 sq. ft. covered patio bordered by a lawn and plenty of trees can be used for weddings, parties, BBQ's, and many other events.
Okanogan, Washington offers good lodging and dining as well. Most of all, it extends visitors a warm and hearty welcome and urges everyone to plan their next vacation here.
