With so many beautiful area parks, Colfax visitors can easily find a place to beach comb, bird watch, camp, swim, hike, geocache, or have a relaxing picnic. The nearby Snake River offers boating, moorage, fishing, cruising, and camping. Steptoe Butte, Palouse Falls, and the county and state parks are a scenic wonderland.
Museums near Colfax include the Appaloosa Horse Club and Museum where exhibits show the history of the Appaloosa horse, with Western art, saddles, and Native American artifacts. At the Idaho Forest Fire Museum in nearby Latah County, Idaho, visitors can see the history of forest firefighting where Smokey the Bear products are made. The Latah County Historical Museum exhibits regional history items in an 1886 governor's mansion. At the Charles R. Conner Museum, visitors can view a large collection of Pacific Northwest birds and animals.
