This is a 112-acre day-use park with 3,100 feet of saltwater shoreline on the Strait of Juan de Fuca in northern Puget Sound. | | San Juan Island National Historic Park | | Today the park is an excellent place to hike, picnic, play on the beach, experience wildlife and enjoy a wealth of programming, including the summer living history events. The park is known for the views of Orca whales and bald eagles that inhabit this area; as do more than 200 species of birds navigating the Pacific flyway. |
|
| | Spencer Spit State Park | | This is a 138-acre marine and camping park situated on Lopez Island in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The park is named for the lagoon-enclosing sand spit on which it rests. The park has a reputation for excellent crabbing, clamming and "car-top boating." This is one of the few state parks in the San Juan Islands that is accessible by automobile. Recreational activities in the park include vehicle and walk-in camping, picnicking, saltwater fishing and clamming, beachcombing and bird watching. A sand spit encloses a saltchuck lagoon. |
