Riffe Lake is a fisherman's delight. With landlocked Coho, catfish, bass, perch, rainbow, and the occasional German Brown, fishermen are bound to catch something with scales. This lake is a manmade reservoir with almost 53 miles of shoreline. Not only will the fish be jumping, but also visitors are likely to be graced with a view of deer and elk. Overhead the wind may catch the wings of a Bald Eagle, a Red-Tailed Hawk, or a hang glider above Dog Mountain. There is nothing like watching the reflection of the sun as it peeks over the Cascades on a lake rippled only with the movement of numerous fish. Fishing from a boat or the shore brings equally good results. It is a large 23-mile long reservoir that stretches along US Hiway 12 east of Mossyrock. When full at a pool height of 778' it has 11,830 surface acres of water. The water depth can reach 360'. It initially was named Davisson Lake after an engineer overseeing the project, but local pressure prevailed & it was soon changed to the name of Riffe Lake.
