Rainbow Falls State Park is a 139-acre camping park with 3,400 feet of freshwater shoreline on the Chehalis River. Situated in stands of old-growth forest, the park features a waterfall and a small fuchsia garden. A falls, above a bridge, creates a rainbow which gave the park its name and the area around the park is abundant with bear, elk, deer and grouse. The park facilities include 47 campsites, three primitive sites, 65 picnic sites, two kitchen shelters, play equipment, a group camping area for 17 camping units and a kitchen shelter, a trailer dump, a ball field, a play area, a vehicle and a pedestrian bridge across the Chehalis River, and 62.85 miles of trail. Activities at the park include camping, fishing, hiking, picnicking, kayaking, and play field games. The park, along with several log structures on the premises, was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1935. Constructed in 1935 in the heart of old-growth forest, this wooded park is known for its rainbow-crowned waterfall, which gives the park its name.
