Olallie State Park is a day-use park in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. It features dramatic Twin Falls, cliff formations, riverbanks and living old-growth trees up to 14 feet in diameter. The rock-climbing area is adjacent to the park, above the Iron Horse Trail. Olallie State Park consists of 539 acres with 21,588 feet of freshwater shoreline on the south fork of the Snoqualmie River. Olallie includes the Garcia Recreation Area, Snoqualmie Pass Wagon Road Heritage Area and Twin Falls Natural Area. A hydroelectric power plant and weir is located at Weeks Falls, with parking, viewpoints to the river and falls, approximately 1/4 mile of interpretive trail and two vault toilets. Parking areas have also been established at both ends of the Twin Falls Trail. Each parking area has two vault toilets. Park activities include hiking, fishing, bicycling, picnicking, and rock climbing. Rock climbing equipment is necessary. Fatal accidents have occurred when amateurs have climbed without proper equipment. Olallie provides access to the Iron Horse Trail, an old Milwaukee Railroad path that starts in North Bend and extends to the Iowa Border. The Iron Horse Trail permits mountain biking and horseback riding. The river is open for fishing. Check local regulations. "Olallie" is the Chinook Jargon word for "berry." The park is rich in huckleberries.

Best Time To Visit: Olallie State Park is open during the summer from 6:30 a.m. to dusk. Winter hours are from 8 a.m. to dusk. The park is open year-round for day use only.

Rules: Overnight camping is not permitted.

Directions: To reach Olallie State Park from Seattle start out going northeast on Marion St. toward 6th Ave. for 0.1 miles. Turn right onto 6th Ave. for 0.2 miles. Take the I-5 S ramp toward Portland for 0.4 miles. Merge onto I-90 E via the exit on the left toward Spokane for 35.3 miles. Take the 38 exit 38 for 0.3 miles. Turn right onto SE Homestead Valley Rd. for 0.1 miles. Warning: There are 1.24 miles between your ending location and the end of your driving directions. Use maps to get from your ending location to the end of your route. End at Olallie State Park.
