Libby Creek Trail #415 follows an old skid road and is steep for 1000 feet. Then it joins the trail climbing steadily for the first mile then drops in elevation slightly for a short distance then climbs a ridge covered with lodgepole pine and subalpine trees. As visitors start up the ridge they enter the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness area. At about 2 miles the route drops in elevation to the trail bridge over the North Fork Libby Creek. This point on the trail climbs steadily through forest with occasional opening. The trail crosses two creeks at 6400 feet and 6800 feet. The final 0.75 mile becomes steep and winds its way through talus rock to the lake. A steep trail to a scenic Libby Lake at 7620 feet. Along the trail, at about 4 miles, remnants of an old log cabin, which was build in the early 1900's. Also a rock dam was constructed in 1911 to control the level of the lake for irrigation in the valley far below. No feed for stock. Trail is closed to stock from the old cabin to the lake. Tie up and walk the last section. This trail is a total of 5.3 miles.
