Rough Fork Trail #3227

Rough Fork Trail #3227 provides access to hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking, and a panoramic view of the upper south Fork Walla Walla River drainage. The trail is open to hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers and motorcyclists. Users can expect heavy motorcycle use on weekends during the spring and summer season. After the first snow and during elk hunting season, users can expect heavy horse traffic. This trail is 3.2 miles long with elevations on 3400 to 5180 feet and is considered to be more difficult.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted for Rough Fork Trail #3227.

Best Time To Visit: Rough Fork Trail #3227 has a recommended season of May 1 through October 1.

Rules: Do not litter. A Northwest Forest Pass is needed to Park at this trailhead. This trail is not suitable for three or four-wheeled ATV's.

Directions: To reach Rough Fork Trail #3227 from Walla Walla, start out going southwest on West Alder Street toward South 5th Avenue for 0.3 miles. Turn left onto WA-125 and continue to follow for 5.2 miles. WA-125 South. WA-125 South becomes OR-11 for 4.6 miles. Keep left at the fork to continue on OR-11 for 7.1 miles. Take the OR-204 South ramp toward Weston for less than 0.1 miles. Stay straight to go onto York Road for 0.8 miles. Stay straight to go onto Williamson Road for 0.4 miles. Williamson Road becomes North Water Street for 0.4 miles. From Weston, Oregon, travel 20 miles on State Highway 204 to Forest Service Road #64 at Tollgate. Turn left and continue past the Tollgate Guard Station and Jubilee Lake to Forest Service Road #6411. Follow 36411 until it meets Forest Service Road #6043. Turn right and go to Mottet Campground. The trailhead is the first left just beyond the campground on Forest Service Road #6403. It is 15.0 miles from Tollgate.
