Tremonton is located in the Bear River Valley, just west of the Bear River, along Interstate 15, and about seven miles south of the confluence of the Malad and Bear rivers. Tremonton is 4,322 feet above sea level and about 120 feet above the mean level of the Great Salt Lake, which lies some fifteen miles south and west of the city.

Tremonton is on the borders of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Outdoor recreation includes camping, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, and more. Also located nearby is the Hyrum State Park and the Willard Bay State Park. Tremonton is also very near the Utah-Idaho boarder and provides easy access to the Caribou National Forest.

Other attractions include the Tremonton Museum, which contains historical artifacts characteristic of the area dating primarily from the mid-1850s to about 1950. Also come check out the Golden Spike National Historic Site at Promontory.
