Nestled between Monument Valley to the south, Mesa Verde to the east, Lake Powell to the west and Moab to the north, Blanding offers the perfect base camp for all Four Corners adventures!

Walter and Albert Lyman and Company founded Blanding (then called Grayson) in 1905 on a high mesa beneath Blue Mountain. The white primrose grew in abundance among the sage and cedar, so they called this area, near the heart of the Colorado Plateau, White Mesa.
Present day Blanding offers a visit to The Edge of the Cedars State Park. The park features artifacts from the ancient Anasazi Indians who lived in the Four Corners region until 1300 A.D. Climb down a ladder into a kiva, walk the paths of an ancient Indian village and view the finest collection of Anasazi pottery in the Four Corners.
While staying in Blanding, be sure to check out The Dinosaur Museum where the entire family can see skeletons and fossils from the Four Corners and around the world. Walk under the jaws of a Tyrannosaurus and come eye to eye with life-size adult and baby dinosaur sculptures.
There is camping, hiking, fishing, and mountain biking in nearby Manti-La Sal National Forest. Blanding is also a gateway to Lake Powell. Experience the best outdoor recreation Blanding has to offer!
