Big Cottonwood Canyon is well known for its beautiful scenery, hiking and trails. This canyon also offers some fantastic sledding hills for those who are willing to do a little walking. Approximately 9.5 miles up the canyon visitors will come to a very large parking area with restrooms. Once in the parking area, visitors will see a road with a locked gate across it. Walk a short distance down this road and see were others have been sledding. The first hill offers very steep but short sledding opportunities. This hill is for those who enjoy a little more excitement. However, visitors should use caution on the northeast side of this hill or they may find themselves going for an unexpected very cold swim in the Big Cottonwood Canyon Creek.
Continue over the first hill in the distance there is a hill perfect for the whole family. Steep enough to have fun but safe enough even for the little ones. With fresh deep powder this is a great place to go sledding.
