Access to the White Pine Trail begins from the White Pine Trailhead parking lot about 5.3 miles from the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon and about 1 mile above Tanner's Flat Campground. A bridge crosses Little Cottonwood Creek and the trail joins an unimproved mountain road which continues almost to White Pine Lake. The White Pine Trail offers views of the Salt Lake Valley, Lone Peak Wilderness, and recent avalanche paths.
This moderately difficult 4 mile trail gains 2,300 feet in elevation and receives heavy use. It takes about 3 hours to complete the trail one way.
