Since the completion of the Flaming Gorge Dam in 1962 the tailwater below the dam has become a premier trout fishery. Anglers float the Green River in dories or rafts or have foot access to the river from Little Hole trail.
A seven mile section of stream just below the dam is managed as part of the Flaming Gorge Recreational Area. The US Forest Service provides visitor facilities and access. The fishery is managed by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
