Red Pine Trail

Red Pine Trail begins from the White Pine Trailhead parking lot. Toilets and a paved parking lot are located at the trailhead. A bridge crosses Little Cottonwood Creek and the trail joins an unimproved mountain road. Follow this road one mile and you'll come to the start of the Red Pine Trail at the sharp switchback where the road turns east. The Red Pine Trail leaves the road and crosses the creek and ends at the north edge of Red Pine Lake. There are actually four lakes in this basin connected by brooks. The upper lake sits in a glaciated cirque. Fishing is possible but success is only marginal.
This moderately difficult 4.5 mile trail gains 1,920 feet in elevations are receives heavy use. It takes about 3 hours to complete the trail one way.
