Porter Fork Trail follows an old mining road that leads to the upper end of the Porter Fork drainage. The trail takes off to the left of the road and continues up to join with the Desolation Trail. This trail can be used to gain access to other trails between Mill Creek Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon.


Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Porter Fork Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Summer and fall is the best time to hike Porter Fork Trail.

Fees: A fee is charged to enter Mill Creek Canyon.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Bikes, horses and motorized vehicles are prohibited.

Directions: To reach Porter Fork Trail from Salt Lake City, take Mill Creek Canyon Road (3800 South Wasatch Blvd.) about 4.2 miles up the canyon to Porter Fork turnoff. Park along Mill Creek Road, vehicle access up to Porter Fork Road is permitted only to Porter Fork residents. Walk up Porter Fork Road until pavement ends about 1.25 miles. Trail begins here and follows the jeep road.
