Pipeline Trail

Pipeline Trail is a result of the abandonment of the flume that carried water from the Elbow Fork intake to the penstock area of the upper Mill Creek power station. For many years a redwood pipe carried the water along this route for power generation purposes. After the power station and pipeline were abandoned and torn down, the tread of the pipeline was utilized as a trail. The Pipeline Trail also connects with the Burch Hollow Trail and on to the Grandeur Peak Trail.
This easy 5.5 mile trail gains 800 feet in elevation and receives frequent use. It takes about 2 hours to complete the trail one way.
It is not uncommon to see snakes on this trail. During the spring and fall, snakes tend to be out during the daytime when the sun is out. During the heat of summer, snakes hang out in the mornings and evenings when it's cooler. Snakes are easy to avoid if you are cautious and watch out for them.
