John Hutchings Museum of Natural History has its origins in its inquisitive founder, John Hutchings, whose lifelong interests included geology, art, Western history, and anthropology.
The minerals on display compose one of the most complete private collections in the U.S. Fossil specimens range from Precambrian to recent and have been loaned to such institutions as the Smithsonian and New York's American Museum of Natural History.
Rare artifacts from Utah's pre-historic Native Americans - the Anazazi and Fremont Indians - are on display, as well as artifacts from the region's early Pioneer history. The collection is rounded out with paintings and sculpture by or about Utahns.
