The Fishlake National Forest was established in 1899 and occupies 1.4 million acres of plateau and mountain land. Vegetation is diverse; aspen and spruce-fir cover about half of Fishlake National Forest. Gambels oak and mountain brush, pinyon pine-juniper woodlands, and sagebrush-grasslands, along with some colorful rock outcrops and cliffs complete the picture.
Fishlake National Forest has several campgrounds ranging from primitive to developed. There are also opportunities for fishing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and ATV use.
