Dog Lake Trail is a short side trip from either the Lake Mary Trail or the Clayton Peak Trail into the cirque of the small Dog Lake.


Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Dog Lake Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Summer and fall is the best time to visit Dog Lake Trail.

Fees: No fees are charged to visit the trail.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Please be cautious of moose that live in the area. Do not approach any moose you encounter on or near trails. For your own safety, please avoid these animals. Please do not pick any wildflowers.

Directions: To reach Dog Lake Trail from Salt Lake City, take Big Cottonwood Canyon Road (7000 South Wasatch Blvd) to Brighton. Park in the large lot in front of the Mount Majestic Lodge. The Lake Mary Trailhead is behind the lodge and is marked by a trailhead sign. Follow the Lake Mary Trail about 3/4 mile to the junction with the Dog lake Trail. The Dog Lake Trail will be on the left. Continue on the Lake Mary Trail to go to Lake Mary.
