Big Water Trail ends at the meeting of the Desolation Trail just above Dog Lake. This trail is highly used by hikers and bikers, therefore some restrictions have been implemented to avoid conflict. Mountain bikes are permitted on the trail on even numbered calendar days.
This easy 3 mile trail gains 1,240 feet in elevation. It takes about 2 hours to complete one way.

Facilities: No facilities are provided at Big Water Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Late spring, summer, and fall is the best time to visit Big Water Trail.

Fees: A fee is charged to enter Mill Creek Canyon.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Mountain bikes are permitted on the trail on even numbered calendar days.

Directions: To reach Big Water Trail from Salt Lake City, take Mill Creek Canyon Road (3800 South Wasatch Boulevard) about 9.1 miles up the canyon to the parking lot. Please note that the upper parking lot fills up very quickly on weekends. Horse trailers can park in the lower overflow parking area down the canyon. Illegal parking and the small upper parking lot makes it difficult for horse trailers to park and almost impossible for larger trailers.
