Walnut Ridge Campground, until 1965 known as the Dam B State Park, is in Jasper and Tyler Counties between Woodville and Jasper on B. A. Steinhagen Reservoir (15,000 acres). The land for the park was acquired under a 50-year lease from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1964 and was opened in 1965.

There are 106 campsites all of which can accommodate RVs and trailers and there are electrical and water hook-ups at each site as well as vault toilets, showers, and a water pump. There is a per night fee and a fee to enter the park but no reservations are required and there is no stay limit so come and stay as long as you want.

There are lots of fishing opportunities nearby but be sure to have a proper and valid Texas fishing license before casting in your line.

Non-motorized boating is a great way to view wildlife and appreciate the landscape in the area. Motorized boating is permitted, so most non-motorized boats find areas away from high traffic watercraft use. Early mornings are also a good time for non-motorized craft, but be sure to have the proper license needed to operate a boat.

Swimming is also allowed and is a great way to cool off on a hot day or the perfect thing to keep the kids busy while you relax in the sun.

Best Time To Visit: Walnut Ridge Campground is open year round but the best time to visit would be between the early spring and the late summer.

Fees: Walnut Ridge Campground charges a fee to enter the main park and there is a per night fee as well.

Accessibility: Walnut Ridge Campground is not handicapped accessible.

Rules: While at Walnut Ridge Campground all pets must be on a leash and remember to clean up after yourself.

Directions: To get to Walnut Ridge Campground from Jasper, take US-190 west. Turn left at State Highway 48 Park Road. Destination will be on the left.
