Lake Abilene is a beautiful and secluded lake that offers the serenity of nature and the recreational opportunities of a developed lake. It has an elevation of 1738 feet and is surrounded by shrubed plains and rolling hills.
There are lots of fishing opportunities and species of sports fish include Florida Largemouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Palmetto (Striped X White) Bass, Bluegill, Blue Catfish, and Channel Catfish but be sure to have a proper and valid Texas fishing license before casting in your line.
Non-motorized boating is a great way to view wildlife and appreciate the landscape in the area. Motorized boating is permitted, so most non-motorized boats find areas away from high traffic watercraft use. Early mornings are also a good time for non-motorized craft, but be sure to have the proper license needed to operate a boat.
Swimming is also allowed and is a great way to cool off on a hot day or the perfect thing to keep the kids busy while you relax in the sun.
