Crater Lake in south central Oregon inspires awe as few other places on earth are able to do. The region abounds in volcanic wonders, but first time visitors are never prepared for their first breathtaking view of the bluest lake imaginable.

Crater Lake was created by the eruption and collapse of Mt. Mazama almost 7,000 years ago. It is 6 miles wide and encircled by 20 miles of cliffs clothed in subtle earth shades and fringed with hemlock, fir, and pine.
Outdoor enthusiasts may revel in the natural scenic wonders, but they will also hike in old growth forests, camp out or stay in an historic hotel, and enjoy many interpretive activities. The eight-month-long winter in the high Cascades lends itself to cross-country skiing and all manner of cold weather frolic.
Do you like geocaching? Crater Lake, Oregon offers over 800 opportunities for geocaching. When you visit Crater Lake, be sure to bring your GPS and look for geocaches near Crater Lake.
Good food and lodging is plentiful in the surrounding area, but Crate Lake National Park especially invites visitors to sample its outdoor wonders, too many and too wonderful to count.
