Visitors to Detroit can usually reach Pacific beaches in less than two hours, but there's no need to travel that far for outdoor adventure. Detroit Lake State Park is within two miles and serves as the gateway to Detroit Lake. This 400' deep lake is over nine miles long with more than 32 miles of shoreline.
The park itself has a spacious, well-appointed campground at the lake. Detroit, Oregon visitors will enjoy two playgrounds and a wildlife viewing area especially ideal for bird watching. The park's visitor center has historical exhibits and a store offering gifts, ice, soft drinks, firewood, souvenirs, and educational toys. There are all sorts of water sports, including fishing, boating, swimming, water skiing, and personal watercraft. Visitors can watch birds, view wildlife, see interpretive displays, and attend nature programs.
