National Recreation Areas

Del Rey Beach State Recreation Site
This area is just a short walk away from Del Rey's quiet, secluded parking area. The ocean is near by as well. Visitors are able to walk a short distance and surf the gentle waves of Del Rey Beach State Recreation Site. If ever there was a place to play, fly a kite, build a sandcastle or picnic, this is it. Some of the water activities that visitors like to participate in are boating, sailing, snorkeling, surfing, swimming, water skiing, and wind surfing.

Hug Point Recreation Site
This site gives visitors easy access to the beach and a peek at some interesting history. The wayside was named after this trail because it hugs the point. Looking further north, Haystack Rock-one of the most identifiable landmarks along the coastline-is easily visible. Gray whales and other marine life can be spotted. Fishing and picnicking opportunities are provided as well.

Tolovana Beach State Recreation Site
The recreation site is a great place to be after a long day of shopping in Cannon Beach's boutiques. Tolovana Wayside. It is known as the heart of the city and is just a few steps down from the parking lot. Visitors are on the beach with a spectacular view of Haystack Rock.
