Stonefield Beach State Recreation Site is a great place to sit in the sun and watch for whales. The famous gray whales migrating to Baja, California can be viewed. Humpback and even killer whales have been spotted in this area. Sea lions inhabit the shorelines, but guests are advised not to try to touch the animals. |

| Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site - Areas | | is located in Newport at the north end of Yaquina Bay near its outlet to the Pacific Ocean. The lighthouse -- later used as a Coast Guard Lifeboat Station -- has been restored and is open to the public. Seal lions and other marine wildlife have been spotted here occasionally as well. |
