Deschutes River State Recreation Area - Horse Use In National Recreation Areas
This area provides visitors with the opportunity to participate in activities like hiking, mountain biking, camping, rafting, world-class steelhead and trout fishing, and equestrian trail riding. The Deschutes, which is both a national and state scenic waterway, drops about a quarter of a mile in its final 100 miles as it twists through canyons 700 to 2,200 feet deep - great for days of fun whitewater rafting, kayaking, and inner-tubing. Fishing is permitted, but a fishing permit must be acquired.

Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail - Trails
In 1803 President Thomas Jefferson commissioned Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the newly acquired Louisiana Purchase. The voyage of was made up of 45 men, a keelboat, two pirogues, and a dog. At 3,700 miles in length, Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail is the second longest of the 23 National Scenic & National Historic Trails in the United States and it crosses 11 states.

There are a number of ways to enjoy the Oregon National Historic Trail including auto-touring, visiting interpretive sites, hiking, biking or horseback riding trail segments and visiting museums. Depending on which segment visitors would like to explore, some or all of these activities may be available.
