Detroit Lake - Lakes & Reservoirs
Detroit Lake is stored water from the Santiam River. Detroit Dam rises 463 feet above its foundation in the narrow, steep and rocky slopes of the North Santiam Canyon. Campsites are available to all the visitors of Detroit Lake. Rainbow trout are stocked in the lake. There is no natural reproduction in the lake, but if the fish survive for three or four years they can weigh over five pounds! Waterfowl migrate here in abundance. This makes for prime game during the hunting season.

Marion Lake - Lakes & Reservoirs
is 360 acres. It sits at an elevation of 4,100 feet. The area is heavily timbered and dominated by Douglas-fir and true fir types. Visitors who like animals might be able to spot black-tailed deer and black bears in the trees. The lake has fish species that include rainbow trout, brook trout and cutthroat trout. Bird lovers will be able to spot osprey, as well as a nesting pair of bald eagles. Visitors are also free to take a day hike in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness with a loop along the shore of beautiful Marion Lake. Permits are required for day and overnight hikes; the permits are self issued at the trailhead. An exceptionally beautiful lake and an interesting route getting there are what make this hike so appealing.

North Santiam State Recreation Area - Fishing In National Recreation Areas
This area plays host to some of the most beautiful riverfront in the area. It is one of the finest steelhead fishing spots on the North Santiam River. North Santiam State Recreation Area is an undisturbed day-use area with drinking fountain and restroom facilities.

Smith Reservoir - Lakes & Reservoirs
This reservoir is in a wooded area and has one campground nearby.

The Willamette National Forest offers visitors virtually endless opportunities for forest-related activities. Developed campgrounds, trails, Scenic Byways, and ski resorts are but a few of the facilities available for use. Outdoor recreation activities not associated with developed facilities are limited only by one's imagination.
