Picnic Areas

Dabney State Recreation Area
This area has been a popular swimming and picnic spot for over 50 years. There is an asphalt trail that leads down to a classic swimming hole. Covered shelter and modern conveniences also accompany the newer parts of the park. Guests are welcome to go out on the river and boat.

Henry Hagg Lake
The park is open from sunrise to sunset seven days a week. The facilities open in late April-on the first day of fishing season-and close in late October. Overnight camping is not permitted. Available species of fish in the lake include rainbow trout, large and smallmouth bass, brown bullhead, and yellow perch. The Park features numerous picnic areas, two boat launching facilities, a fully-stocked lake for fishing, 15-plus miles of hiking trails, observation decks for wildlife-and bird-watching and extensive facilities for disabled visitors.

Tryon Creek State Natural Area
The area is located only minutes from downtown Portland is Oregon's only state park within a major metropolitan area. Every day, visitors come to hike or stroll Tryon Creek State Park's nature trails through the verdant ravine between Boones Ferry Road and Terwilliger Boulevard in southwest Portland. Some people visit Tryon Creek just to sit in the Glenn L. Jackson shelter and listen to the chatter of the jays and squirrels. Others, especially people with mobility-related disabilities, come to enjoy the peaceful setting of the fully-accessible Trillium Trail. Tryon Creek is one of the only streams in the metro area with a run of steelhead trout.
