Bully Creek Reservoir
The reservoir is on the Bully Creek about 8 miles northwest of the Creek's confluence with the Malheur River. In the spring, fall, and winter visitors may see loons, grebes, ducks, and hawks. Nearby a red rock formation sometimes harbors Rock Wrens and Golden Eagles. Reservoir is 985 surface acres with 7 miles of shoreline. The reservoir is used as a resting place by migratory waterfowl with some ducks remaining to nest.

Farewell Bend State Recreation Area
This area offers a desert experience of the banks of the Snake River's Brownlee Reservoir. Interpretive centers and trails are offered to the visitors who want to explore part of the Oregon Trail. The reservoir offers activities such as swimming, water skiing, fishing, and boating.

Monument Rock Wilderness
At the southernmost edge of the Blue Mountains, this area's alpine, once-glaciated ridges offer views across much of eastern Oregon.

Ontario State Recreation Site
is a restful day-use park situated on the west bank of the historic Snake River just north of Ontario, Oregon. Green grass, clean grounds, and modern restrooms greet visitors stopping to boat, fish, swim or picnic for the day. Ontario is a great place to enjoy bird watching and other wildlife. Blue heron, Canada geese, river otter, and muskrat are found in the reeds and grass along the shores of the Snake River.

Succor Creek State Natural Area
The natural area is closed to all motor vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles. Pedestrians are allowed to cross into the east side of the park. Six campsites located east of the creek were moved south of the park's vault restroom on the west side to accommodate campers while the closure is in effect. Succor Creek is an unstaffed, no-fee primitive camping area.

Wildlife Viewing In State Parks

Hilgard Junction State Park
This park offers camping and daytime activities amongst the cottonwood and ponderosa pine. The Grande Ronde River flows through the park. Visitors are welcome to raft the river or simply swim. Fishing is popular as well. Wildlife viewing is amazing during all months of the year.

Lake Owyhee State Park
A boat trip up the lake (the park sells fuel, ice, and food to help visitors stock up) from the park is one of the many not-to-be-missed experiences in eastern Oregon. Bighorn sheep and pronghorn antelope live here, as do golden eagles, coyotes, mule deer, wild horses and (rarely) mountain lions.The main campground (McCormack) has electric and tent sites, showers, a boat ramp, tepees, a wastewater dump station, and more.
