| Unity Lake State Recreation Site has the high desert surrounding the area to offer a unique experience to its guests. The fragrant smell of juniper lingers in the air and thrills the senses. The cool grass of the park is a vibrant contrast to the sagebrush and cheat grass of the bordering lands. The Burnt River comes to rest behind the Unity Dam before continuing its path down the valley. Relax on the shores or enjoy water sports. There is a boat ramp to accommodate the water skier as well as the angler. The water activities are not limited to fishing and water skiing. Visitors have been known to tube behind boats, jet ski, and swim. Peacefulness will engulf guests at Unity Lake State Recreation Area whatever they choose to do. Camping in different styles are available to accommodate almost any guest. Vintage teepees are available to be reserved, RV's are welcome, tent space is available, and rustic cabins can be reserved as well. All of the campsites are developed and showers are available in a public restroom in the center of the campground. Picnicking is a popular day choice for guests who do not want to spend the night at Unity Lake State Recreation Site. Group shelters are not provided. Different species of wildlife inhabit the area. This includes mule deer, elk, cougars, bobcat, black bears, eagles, hawks, and smaller animals. A hiking trail weaves in and out of the wooded areas to give visitors a view of the lake and the forest. It is a mild hike for all ages. |
