| The Umatilla County Historical Society Museum showcases temporary and semi-permanent exhibits of photographs and artifacts relating to the country's rich heritage, including: The Oregon Trail, Pendleton Woolen Mills, Indian beadwork and Byrd School. To remember and celebrate our heritage as a county, The Umatilla County Historical Society proudly announces the opening of our newest exhibit entitled, Getting Back to Our Roots. Focusing on people of different ethnic heritages who settled this county, it will run through mid-March 2000. American Indian, French, Irish, Scottish, English, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, German, Portuguese, Basque, and Chinese cultures are each addressed. The exhibit includes many artifacts from our collection as well as items on loan from community members. A recent gift to the Museum, a completely restored Studebaker farm wagon, is on display. Other items include an heirloom Portuguese guitar, agricultural tools, and antique textiles. |
