The Highlights of Surveyor's Ridge Trail #688 include magnificent glimpses of Mt. Hood and the Hood River Valley. Landscape varies from open grassy slopes and meadows, to rocky outcropping, to abandoned logging roads. If you wish to car shuttle the one way trip is 11.7 miles. The round trip is 23.4 miles and this trail is rated difficult. A Northwest Forest Pass is required to use this trail.

Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Surveyor's Ridge Trail #688. Gas, food, and lodging are available in Hood River.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted for Surveyor's Ridge Trail #688.

Best Time To Visit: Surveyor's Ridge Trail #688 is open June through October.

Directions: To reach the north end of Surveyor's Ridge Trail #688 from The Dallas, travel west on Interstate 84 to Hood River. From Hood River, take State Highway 35 south for 14 miles to Pinemont Drive (Forest Road 17). Turn left on Pinemont and continue 5 miles to Forest Road 630 (spur road immediately south of the powerlines). Turn right onto Forest Road 630 and follow to parking area.

To reach the south end of Surveyor's Ridge Trail #688 from the Dalles, travel southwest on Three Mile Road to Forest Road 44. Go on Forest Road 44 for 3 1/2 miles to Forest Road 620. The trail crosses Forest Road 620 a few yards from the junction with Forest Road 44. Parking is limited.
