Stonefield Beach State Recreation Site has easy beach access. Ten mile Creek is just to the north of this secluded recreational area. Stonefield Beach State Recreation Site is a great place to sit in the sun and watch for whales. The famous gray whales migrating to Baja, California can be viewed. Humpback and even killer whales have been spotted in this area. Sea lions inhabit the shorelines, but guests are advised not to try to touch the animals. They are wild and aggressive animals. Bird Watching is a good activity on this beach below Newport. Pelicans, sea gulls, and even golden eagles have been spotted making the area their nesting place. The beach itself is full of recreation. Many guests like to take their boats out on the water and fish or water ski. If a boat is not available to guests then other recreational water activities are possible as well. Such activities include surfing, boogie boarding, wake boarding, jet skiing, body surfing, and wind surfing.
