North Waldo Day Use Area is the most popular of the Waldo Lake campgrounds. There is boating (10 M.P.H.), sailing, swimming, and fishing in the lake. The drier environment supports fewer mosquitos, but they are still plentiful in season. Amphitheater programs are presented on weekends from late July to Labor Day. The boat launch is somewhat deeper than the others on the lake, which is more accommodating for large sailboats. North Waldo is also a popular starting point for many wilderness trails and lakes, most notably the Rigdon, Wahanna and Torrey Lakes. The 1-mile Shoreline Trail between North Waldo and Islet provides a short and pleasant hike along the lakeshore. There are 7 day use sites at the area.
