| Lowell State Recreation Site in spring, summer and fall, the Dexter and Lookout Point Reservoirs are dotted with boats. Whether visitors like to picnic, fish, boat or just walk, they will find a pair of convenient day-use parks on the lake. Lowell is accessible by crossing over the reservoir. Picnic areas are scattered throughout the site. Group shelters are available and can be reserved for a small fee. Additional charges will apply after 50 people. Wildlife views are impressive. Some of the birds that inhabit the area are Bald Eagles, Gold Eagles, and Red-Tail Hawks. Boating is permitted on the reservoirs. There are no rules against motor boats, so everyone is free to play! To make life a little more convenient for guests there is a boat ramp provided for them by the recreation site. A marina is also available for personal use by visitors. Fishing is a great recreational activity, but fishing permits for the area are required to be obtained. Anyone who does not follow the regulations will be fined. The water activities are not limited to fishing. Other guests like to swim, water ski, jet ski, wind surf, and go tubing. The recreation management simply asks that all guests be respectful of one another. A walking trail is provided along the reservoir with an outstanding view of the sunsets during the evening. The park is open year -round for everyone to enjoy. |
