Little Grayback #921 is an outstanding trail for views of Squaw Lakes and surrounding basins. The trail climbs gently across the southern slopes of Little Grayback Mountain towards Hanley Gap coming out on Forest service road 2010.340 and within one mile of Squaw Peak (elevation 4984'). Little Grayback Mountain is probably named by the early miners for the presence of lice ('graybacks') at their Applegate River camps. This trail is 5.4 miles long with elevations of 3220 to 4440 feet and is considered to be moderate to difficult.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Do not litter. When traveling on multi use trails use caution on blind corners. When approaching stock, identify yourself, so animals know that you're there and move to the downhill side of the trail.

Directions: To reach Little Grayback #921 from Medford, take west 6th St toward north Fir St. Follow it for 3 miles. Turn right onto west Jacksonville Highway. Follow it for 0.4 miles. Stay straight to go onto Jacksonville Highway. Follow it for 4.2 miles. Turn left onto east California St. Follow it for 0.1 miles. From the Star (Applegate) Ranger Station in Jacksonville, travel south on Upper Applegate road for 8 miles to Applegate Dam. At Applegate Dam and follow this road (#1075) for approximately 1.5 miles to the junction with road #1075.490. Turn left on road #1075.490 and follow to French Gulch divide for approximately 2 miles where you will find a small trailhead on the left.
