Joseph H. Stewart State Recreation Area is located in an area where every campsite is overlooking Lost Creek Reservoir with wildlife, large conifer trees, and mountains surrounding the area. Visitors may take a hike or bike ride on our 11-mile trail system, through the forest with year-round streams and wildlife viewing. They are also free to take a swim in the cool, mountain water; rent a boat from the marina and troll the 10-mile lake for trout and bass ... an angler's dream. Or guests may also bring their own boat and water skis to spend a few days in the sun. The park is about 40 miles from Crater Lake National Park, and makes an excellent jumping-off point for an exploration of southern Oregon. A large fish hatchery - the Cole Rivers Hatchery - is open for self-guided tours. Developed Camping is available in the area. The picnic areas are scattered along the shores of the beach area of the streams and Lost Creek Reservoir. A group shelter is available to be reserved for large groups as well. Playgrounds are in the area for the smaller children.
