| Jasper State Recreation Site has plenty of room for games, picnics, and fishing. The park features a hiking trail, playground and group picnic shelters. The group shelters can be reserved and come complete with covered cooking facilities. If summer is just too busy for some people, consider dropping by this park in spring. Songbirds abound along the river and among the wooded patches. This park requires a day-use permit which can be purchased for a small fee. There are four group shelters (one holds up to 150, the other three hold 100 people each). The area receives a high amount of precipitation. Much of the precipitation comes from October to April in the form of rain. Winter temperatures are normally cool, but not extremely cold because of the lower elevation the park is at. Although snow is possible in the lowest elevations, it is infrequent and does not stay on the ground for long. Late spring, summer and early autumn bring the best chance for clear, sunny days and bring moderate temperatures. |
