Cone Peak Trail #3408 is 3.5 miles long, has a moderate rating, and receives high use. A gentle grade leads you through the shade of the forest onto open hillsides bursting with flowers in the spring and summer. Upper portions of this trail offer extensive views of the surrounding Old Cascades. At the junction with Iron Mountain Trail, you have the option of returning the way you came or climbing another 0.75 mile to the top of Iron Mountain. For a loop trail, combine the Santiam Wagon Road, Iron Mountain, Cone Peak Trails with Tombstone Pass Trails.

Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Cone Peak Trail #3408. Gas, lodging, and food are available in Sweet Home.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted for Cone Peak Trail #3408.

Best Time To Visit: Cone Peak Trail #3408 is open June through October.

Fees: A Northwest Forest Pass is required.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible.

Directions: To reach Cone Peak Trail #3408 from Corvallis, travel east on State Highway 34 to U.S. Highway 20. Go east on U.S. Highway 20 to Sweet Home. From Sweet Home, travel east on U.S. Highway 20 for 34.6 miles to Tombstone Pass. Travel halfway down Tombstone Prairie Trail to where Cone Peak Trail connects on the left. Hikers should park at Tombstone Pass SnoPark rather than on the highway.
