Charlton Lake Loop is a more difficult ride in a remote setting that goes through nice forests. Visitors can connect with other trails in the area including a longer option of this route to Lemish Lake. Remember: Wilderness Areas and the Pacific Crest Trail are closed to bicycles. These trails are less used and are sometimes on an every other year trail maintenance cycle so check with the Bend-Fort Rock Ranger District office to see if the trails are in good condition for your ride. This trail is 22 miles long with elevations of 4500 feet to 5900 feet and is considered to be most difficult.

Directions: To reach Charlton Lake Loop from Bend, drive 16 miles south on Hwy 97 and take the Fall River/Hwy 42 exit. Head 23 miles west on Hwy 42 to the junction with Hwy 46 (Cascade Lakes Hwy) and head straight onto FS road 4290. Drive 4 mile to the junction with the Clover Meadow/Round Meadow trail. Park here and begin the loop.
