Agate Reservoir is one of the features of the Rogue River Basin Project. It is located about 10 miles northeast of Medford, Oregon. Agate Dam is a zoned earth fill structure on Dry Creek. The reservoir covers 216 surface acres. Fish species include largemouth bass, black crappie, brown bullhead, bluegill, yellow perch, and rainbow trout. The season is open year-round. Fishing is not the only recreational activity to get involved with. Visitors often like to take their boats out and relax on the water all day long. Hunting around the reservoir area is permitted during specific seasons. Picnic areas are provided. They serve as a place for visitors to relax and enjoy the view of the reservoir. It is not unusual to see visitors participating in water activities such as water skiing, jet skiing, boating, swimming, and canoeing.
