Arizona BLM. The Colorado River.
Katherine's Landing is a popular spot for boaters, fishermen, campers and rvers. Katherine's Landing is located on the Arizona side of the Colorado River in the Lake Mead National Recreational Area upstream from the Davis Dam. It seems remote and far away from the main trail even though it is only 7 or 8 miles from Bullhead City, AZ and Laughlin, NV.
Katherine's Landing takes it name from the old Katherine's Mine that is located north east of the current Marina. The Katherine's Mine lies dead and decaying. All that stands is an odd assortment of concrete pillars, arranged as if in some forgotten graveyard, and the foundation of the once impressive structure. Scattered about are the rusting remains of iron tanks and other equipment used in the mining operation. Deep beneath the surface, a labyrinth of passages is choked with water, rotten timbers and memories of long departed miners.
Katherine was a boomtown that gained more from its reputation than from the ore that it produced. The Katherine Mine produced less than $2 million in gold and silver between 1900 and 1940. The Mill, processing ore from area mines, excluding the Katherine Mine, produced $3.6 million in gold and silver between 1900 and 1943.
Katherine's Landing offers fishing for Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Striped Bass, crappie, and sunfish. There are also channel catfish and carp. Access to Katherine's Landing is paved.
