North Loop Trail

North Loop Trail is 10 1/2 miles one way. The North Loop offers access to Charleston Peak, Mummy Mountain, and the South Loop Trail. The trail begins in stands of ponderosa pine and white fir, and then goes past the trail junctions for Mummy Springs and Trail Canyon Trail. The path continues its upward climb through aspen and brisltecone pines.
After winding along the rocky canyon walls the trail reaches the east approach of Charleston Peak. The final ascent is a 1/2 mile climb on switchbacks through limestone and dolomite rock to reach the 11,918 ft. summit.

Facilities: Hilltop Campground is located near North Loop Trail.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted for North Loop Trail.

Best Time To Visit: The recommended season to hike North Loop Trail is spring through fall.

Fees: No fees are charged.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: No campfires-stoves only. Pets must be on leashes at all times. In wilderness areas, bicycles or motorized vehicles are prohibited.

Directions: To reach North Loop Trail from Las Vegas, take Hwy 95 northwest for approximately 12 miles to Hwy 157. Drive west on 157 to the junction with State Route 158. Turn right onto 158, and go four miles. Just past the Hilltop Campground watch for a turnout on the left for trailhead parking.
