 | | The history of the Central Nevada Museum goes back about 20 years, when a group of concerned people formed the Central Nevada Historical Society (CNHS) and began taking donations of artifacts to fill a museum. The museum details Tonopah history that has been open since 1981!History is very important the museum staff. The museum wholeheartedly explores and displays the rich history of the area, which includes mining, ranching and pioneer life, TAAF (Tonopah Army Air Field, active during WWII), along with the native Americans that were here before, to help visitors understand what it took to live in this area without the comforts of today.In addition, Central Nevada Museum investigates the geology and plant life of this region. The Central Nevada Museum wants to spark interest in children as well as adults, be an integral part of the community, and introduce newcomers to this part of the world, which extends to roughly a 100-mile radius around Tonopah. |
