Water sports remain a popular activity on Fort Sumner Lake, and the Pecos River for boating and fishing. Visitors commonly visit various local museums and exhibits, such as the Billy the Kid Museum and the Old Fort Sumner Museum. The Bosque Redondo State Monument offers a visitor's center with exhibits and a living history program. Additional recreational opportunities include several parks, the Memorial Pool, a golf course, tennis and basketball courts, and the De Baca County Fairgrounds. Parades and other activities highlight Old Fort Days held annually during the second week in June.
