Cimarron Canyon State Park - Mammals

Clayton Lake Campground - Bird Watching
Clayton Lake Campground offers 33 sites, 7 of which have electric hookup. Park amenities include a visitor center and group picnic shelter.

Clayton Lake State Park - Bird Watching
Set among rolling grasslands, the park offers trout, catfish, and bass fishing. Walk a half-mile to the lake's spillway and see the internationally significant dinosaur track way, containing more than 500 footprints dating back more than 100 million years.

Coal Camp Trail - Bird Watching
This 1.5 mile trail is rated "Moderate - Strenuous".

Deer Run Trail - Bird Watching
This 1.8 mile trail is rated "moderate to strenuous". The elevation change is +700 feet.

Lake Alice - Bird Watching
This is one of three mountain lakes within the Sugarite Canyon State Park. In the summertime it is stocked with rainbow trout.

Lake Alice Campground - Bird Watching
Lake Alice Campground offers 10 individual camping sites for tents, and another 10 full hook-ups for RVs. Activities include fishing on three lakes, picnicking, hiking, and horse back riding. Located within the Sugarite Canyon State Park.

Lake Dorothey - Bird Watching
The Sugarite Canyon State Park offers fishing on three lakes, picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, 18 miles of trails, and overnight camping at the Soda Pocket and Lake Alice campgrounds.

Lake Maloya Trail - Bird Watching
This 2.8 mile trail is rated "easy-moderate". There is no elevation change. It follows a dirt road along the lake, narrowing as it enters Segerstrom Canyon.

Lake Mayola - Bird Watching
This is one of three mountain lakes within the Sugarite Canyon State Park. In the summertime it is stocked with rainbow trout.

Opportunity Trail Loop - Bird Watching
Full of changing scenery, this 4 mile trail is rated moderate to strenuous. The elevation change is 1,200 feet.

Ponderosa Ridge Trail - Bird Watching
This path begins across from the Horse Corral on the Soda Pocket Road heading east around the base of Little Horse Mesa. This 2 mile trail is rated moderate to strenuous. The elevation change is 500 feet.

River Walk Trail - Bird Watching
This 0.5 mile trail makes a loop around the Chicorica Creek, and is rated easy.

Soda Pocket Campground - Bird Watching
This campground offers fishing on three lakes, picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, and 18 miles of trails.

Sugarite Canyon State Park - Bird Watching
This state park offers fishing on three lakes, picnicking, hiking, and overnight camping at the Soda Pocket and Lake Alice campgrounds.

Vista Grande Nature Trail - Bird Watching
A branch off the main trail loop heads upslope to a viewing point with panoramic views of the canyon. This half-mile trail is rated at "moderate". The elevation change is +150 feet.
