State Parks

Fort Selden State Monument
The United States Government built Fort Selden near the town of Las Cruces in 1865 to protect settlers from outlaws and Apache Indians, and for a quarter of a century it served its purpose.

Leasburg Dam State Park
This park offers peace and relaxation, cactus gardens, several short trails, and opportunities for fishing, canoeing and kayaking.

Percha Dam State Park
Set in the deep shade of towering cottonwoods, the park features fishing and hiking on the Rio Grande. The park is covered with a blanket of grass protected by cottonwoods, salt cedar and Russian olive trees.

Rockhound State Park
Located on the rugged west slope of the Little Florida Mountains, this park is a favorite for "rockhounds" because of the abundant agates and quartz crystals found there.
