Three Rivers is located within the Lincoln National Forest. It runs for six miles along side Trail #44, all completely within the White Mountain Wilderness. Brook trout are the most popular fish caught from Three Rivers.


Facilities: The Three Rivers provides 12 individual campsites along with drinking water, flush toilets, fire grills, and picnic tables.

Best Time To Visit: Fishing from Three Rivers is best during spring, summer, and fall.

Rules: This area is located within the Lincoln National Forest; forest regulations apply. A fishing permit is required.

Directions: To reach the Three Rivers Campground from Roswell, take I-70 west to I-380 northwest. Travel to Carrizozo. Take I-54 south 24 miles, turn east onto Forest Road 579 at the sign that says Three Rivers Petroglyph Site and Campground for 13 miles (the last 7 miles are unpaved). The road is well marked to the campground.
